Of course, I do have to finish grading the January session papers and finals. Did I somehow think they were going to grade themselves?
Hoping to finish one class this morning and the other tomorrow morning so that I can spend most of the day at a professional development conference-thingy at NCC. This afternoon is taken up with New RU activities.
But, see, this is the problem with not having a Plan. I don’t teach on Fridays this spring, and I had no plan for this Friday; therefore, I signed up for the conference-thingy; consequently, I will not be writing on Friday. The conference-thingy was not entirely optional, because participating in a certain number of hours of this sort of thing is required by the NCC contract, and this one will fulfill my requirement for the year. Also, it looks pretty useful!
But still: between finishing the grades and attending the conference, no writing.
Is that a flimsy excuse? After all, if I had to write, it would get done somehow.
But in my world, this is essentially the week right after finals. Grading jail. Who restarts a serious writing project (or two) in that week?
Date with myself: tomorrow, Friday, at 3 pm when the conference ends. Objective: come up with a Plan.
