The last 24 hours have been a pretty intense period. I had meetings at New RU and my evening class last night, got up early to grade (write? ha), taught three classes with grading in between, had two intense telephone conversations with parents of struggling students (actually, I don’t think either student is actually struggling, just trying to cruise along without doing much work), and inadvertently witnessed some drama that seems to be blowing up around Alpha*. Oh, and my carpool partner had to leave early, so I scrounged a ride to the bus stop with another teacher and ended up spending like 20 minutes at home with Stubb and the Snork Maiden before going over to my sister’s to give her a hand with the baby. (She’s having a rough second pregnancy.) Stubb had to go out and the Snork Maiden is on her way to bed. For the rest of the evening, I am going to read unchallenging books, have snacks and go to bed early myself.
*Remember I mentioned that she has a tendency to lash out when challenged? It’s along those lines. I think she sees herself as a straight talker, but other people perceive her as a loose cannon. I also think this is unlikely to end well.
